M is fantastic with his self-imposed weekday routine. The first thing he does every morning after he gets out of bed is dress himself ... right down to his shoes. Then he has breakfast, packs his bag, washes the breakfast dishes (that's his morning chore), cleans his teeth and sometimes he brushes his hair. He has a very ordered routine that takes him through to about 7.00am. I don't have to say a word to him. He just sets about his tasks and gets things done. I so wish I was like that!!! Then he has over an hour and a half to spare before he wants to leave for school so he plonks himself down and plays on the computer. He doesn't particularly like school and whenever I ask him how his day was, he replies "the usual!!". However, today was different!! Today, when I asked M how his day was, he responded with "good!" I think it's the first time since about the 3rd day of Kindergarten that I've heard M say that school was "good".
Poor J managed to catch himself the gastric bug that has been going around. I think he would have preferred to go to school then to have been sick with this particular bug. He, like most other kids, would prefer to stay home from school anyway, but he hasn't particularly enjoyed being sick. He thanked me for allowing him to stay home from school but, actually, I enjoyed having him home today. It was lovely to see J and B do painting together and then model things out of playdoh. I wish I had a digital camera. I only have a film camera and so I will have to wait until I get the photos developed before I can scan them in. He's very much my socialite. He's easily distracted (oh boy, he is soooo much like his mother in so many ways!!) and so, getting ready for school is a little more difficult. But he gets about his tasks, which are considerable, and accomplishes them all before he sets out for school. Apart from getting dressed, breakfasted, teeth and hair done, he also has piano practise, vacuuming th
e kitchen/dining area, and our beautiful little budgie to take care of each morning.
My littlest boy, B, has an amazing sense of humour for one so young. We have this little game where he starts off saying to me something like "You're a truck" and I have to respond "I'm not a truck, you're a curtin" and then he responds in like manner with something else. If he says "You're Mummy" we both erupt into cheers and usually fall over ourselves with laughter. However, lately he has taken to saying things like "You're a nose ... yaaaaayyyyyyy". He is such a cheeky little stirrer! I wonder where he gets it from ... hmmmm ... must be R!!!!
I am immensely proud of all my boys. I feel so privileged to be the one God has selected to be their mother and, often, I question God about His wisdom in this matter. Still, God is all wise and all knowing and I am amazed that I have been so blessed. With mother's day approaching, I realise what a blessing it is to "have my quiver full". And with such quality arrows as God has provided. My prayer for them is that they know the heart and mind of God for their lives and that nothing will hinder them from accomplishing God's incredible purpose for their lives.
